Preity Zinta is not only a beauty, she is an accomplished and intelligent actress. A native of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, Preity Zinta had a tough childhood when her father died in a car accident when she was 13. She said she was obliged to mature much faster than otherwise after the event, and she admits she was something of a tomboy when she was young. She studied English at St Bede's College in Shimla and went on from that to study criminal psychology, but here discovered she could be a successful model and pursued that path. She also starred in the hit films Salaam Namaste and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, as well as many other successful films over the years. Preity Zinta is also a talented writer for the BBC and a stage actress, as well as a true humanitarian involved with AIDS awareness women's rights. She is also famous for speaking up against the Indian mob during the infamous trial of Bharat Shah in 2003, which won her an award for courage from the Godfrey National Bravery society. |
